The young winemakers Raphaël Maye and Patrik Adank impress with precision, finesse and character. Passionate and highly skilled, they also bring with them a wealth of international experience. Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of wine and mountains – the evening will be hosted by Geny Hess, Hess Selection.
Raphaël Maye – Domaine Simon Maye & Fils, Chamoson
Grandfather Simon Maye founded the winery in 1949 and became one of Valais’ pioneering figures in quality wine. Over the decades, the estate has produced numerous cult wines, and its bottles remain highly sought after to this day. The passion for winemaking has been passed down through three generations. After sons Axel and Jean-François, the grandson Raphaël is now continuing the legacy. For several years he has been leading the winemaking with great dedication and impresses with wines that are precise, elegant and true to their variety.
The Maye family cultivates around 11 hectares of vineyards and is known for planting each grape variety only in the locations best suited to it. Their love for authenticity is reflected in their wines, which express the unique character of each grape in harmony with the geological and micro-climatic conditions of their vineyards. Raphaël’s wines shine with remarkable elegance and purity.
Patrik Adank – Weingut Adank, Fläsch (GR)
A wide variety of geological formations shape the vineyard soils in Fläsch. They are deep and composed mainly of calcareous Bündner slate with varying proportions of sand and clay. The local microclimate is strongly influenced by altitude, rainfall and the famous Föhn winds, giving the wines their distinctive and multifaceted character.
Alongside the exceptional limestone and slate soils, the surrounding landscape and climate also play an essential role in the ripening of the grapes and the complexity of the wines. Patrick Adank returned several years ago to the 6-hectare family estate of his father Hansruedi and has since brought fresh energy and new expertise to the winery.
He gained valuable experience at renowned Burgundy estates and in Champagne, including Sylvain Cathiard et Fils in Vosne-Romanée and Domaine Etienne Sauzet in Puligny-Montrachet. This expertise is already clearly reflected in the outstanding wines of Adank today.
The philosophy of the Adank family is simple:
"Our wines reflect nature, the character and the individuality of our vineyards – they are clear, authentic and mineral."
