Engelberg - Horbis - Zieblen mountain path (W19)

The end of the world isn't as far away as you thought. Horbis or better known as the End of the World is your starting point. In gentle hairpin bends you climb up to the local mountain Hahnen. At the Alp Ober Zieblen you have the most meters of altitude behind you and can hike along the high trail to the Fürenalp mountain station.

From Engelberg they walk along the Grottenweg to the end of the world / Horbis. In the restaurant you can fortify yourself for the hike with a fine coffee. Then the narrow, well-marked mountain path climbs steadily and in regular curves up to Alp Ober-Zieblen. From here the path leads along the Hahnenmassiv, Engelberg's local mountain. Engelberg owes its name to this mountain. Angels are said to have danced at Hahnen Mountain. You continue on over beautiful alpine meadows, Tagenstall with the hydroelectric power station of the Engelberg monastery and various springs and slate quarries. In early years slate bricks were mined from here for the Engelberg monastery. The alpine golf course and the Titlis massif are always in your field of vision on the high-altitude trail to Fürenalp. From Alp Tagenstall there are various places of power to recharge your batteries until you arrive at the Fürenalp mountain restaurant. There the mountain restaurant Fürenalp spoils you with fine delicacies like crispy Rösti, airy Kaiserschmarren and other specialities. Lean back and enjoy the majestic mountain world after your exertion.
